AiT/Planetlar Contest Winner Announced

Congratulations Matt Hurlburt of Stow, Ohio. Matt is the winner of our relaunch contest, and will receive a copy of everything ever published by AiT/PlanetLar, the fine folks responsible for DEMO, ASTRONAUTS IN TROUBLE, COLONIA, ELECTRIC GIRL, and many dozens of other fine publications. Here's what Matt told us:

I'd like to think of Larry Young as my father. Metaphorically, of
course, as my own old man is still alive and kicking, and Larry has
enough to do without adding a 28 year old son to the list. Rather,
Larry has served as a spirit guide, if you will, showing by example
that anything is possible if you reach out and grab life by the balls.

Larry (and by extension AiT-PlanetLar) puts out the most ass-kicking
comic books in the market today, showcasing creators that wouldn't get
a sniff of Superman's latest battle with Lex Luthor. AiT-Planet Lar
is tangible proof that comics aren't just for kids, and aren't just
limited to superheroes. If I could, I'd buy every book that AiT
produces, as I have yet to be disappointed. I cannot, however, afford
to do so. Three kids, a mortgage, and a huge flaming pile o' bills
make it somewhat difficult to get my comics fix. The local library
has a pretty nice graphic novel collection, including some books from
AiT-Planet Lar, but tends to run 6 months to a year behind the
publishing schedule. I'd love to read the rest of the adventures of
the Astronauts, check out Badlands so I can get a better understanding
of where Steven Grant comes from, find out why everyone raves about
True Story Swear to God, and finish off the Couriers and Demo - but I
can't. So I guess this is my bald-faced plea: I'd like to win so I
can read great comics that I can't afford to buy for myself. I
promise to pass on any copies of books I already own (Last of the
Independents, Couriers 1, etc.) to those who are looking for something
different than the standard comic fare. I pledge to uphold the Boy
Scout Oath, eat apple pie, and look after mom. And I promise to grab
life by the balls, just like Larry did, and still does.

Enjoy the books, Matt, and thanks to Larry Young for making it possible for us to hold our biggest giveaway ever, and thanks to everyone who entered the contest!
